Garmin Internship

During my summer internship with Garmin’s consumer mechanical engineering group, I had a chance to take ownership of two main projects. For the first one, I designed, built, and tested a modular hydraulic test bed for linear actuators. I handled everything from the design to construction and even managed the electrical system with Arduino for motor control and cycle testing. I also created documentation to help other engineers rebuild the test bed and replicate the electrical setup. My second project involved working on mounts for the next generation of Garmin live sonar scanners and transducers. This experience taught me a lot about designing and manufacturing for high production, especially with plastic injection molding. I collaborated with Garmin’s industrial design team to refine the product's appearance and worked with the manufacturing team in Taiwan to ensure the product could be successfully produced.
