3D Printed Model Rocket

In this project, I was responsible for designing, prototyping, and testing a model rocket based on the Saturn V. I developed the rocket's subsystems, including a spy camera mount, nose cone, main body, booster, motor mount, and launch lug mount, to create a functional design. I calculated the stability caliber for a D12-3 engine to improve the rocket's flight stability, achieving a stability caliber of 1.64. Using OpenRocket software, I analyzed and adjusted the fin and body design to reach a maximum altitude apogee of 80 meters. I tested the rocket in the Penn State agricultural fields and used the data to make further improvements. Through this project, I learned about rapid prototyping, engineering analysis, and creating detailed engineering drawings to communicate design and manufacturing decisions.
